Diversity, Equity and Inclusion

The Memory, Epigenetics & Addiction Lab is committed to increasing diversity in science. As mentioned in our mission statement, we strive to create an inclusive environment where all lab members feel valued and are able to thrive. We believe a diverse workforce is critical for generating novel, creative and innovative ideas and approaches to tackle complex questions.

In line with these goals we pledge to:

· Actively recruit individuals from historically excluded and underrepresented groups into the lab at all training levels

· Seek funding to support activities that increase diversity and inclusion efforts in the lab (Grants, fellowships and other mechanisms)

· Have regular conversations about systemic racism and implicit bias in science

· Encourage, organize and participate in outreach activities in the local community such as Brain Awareness Week

· Share educational resources about diversity and inclusion

· Participate in events that promote diversity and inclusion locally and at scientific conferences
